Year in Review

Ray Baum Act

On January 6, 2022, recent FCC regulations will require any MLTS installed or upgraded after February 16, 2020 to provide automated dispatchable location to the appropriate PSAP when technically feasible; otherwise, they must provide either dispatchable location based on end-user manual update, or alternative location information that meets the requirements below.

  • Mitel MLTS can be configured to automatically detect the location of current* desktop phones and, with the addition of E911 services from one of our solutions partners, RedSky, softphones when used in a campus/office environment. Automatic location detection may require a network/zone map.

  • Mitel MLTS can be configured to detect movement of current* Mitel hard phones and softphones when used off-premises and prompt the user to update their current address. Certain MLTS require the addition of E911 services from one of our solutions partners, RedSky to detect softphone movement.

As we close out 2021 and look forward to the new challenges in 2022, we want to reflect on all the changes BSB had this past year.

The start of 2021 brought many new changes not only for BSB but also for the country. We elected a new President. People started going back into the office, and Tom Brady won his 7th Superbowl Ring.

2021 has been a very eventful and proudful year for BSB. It started with us being awarded one of Mitel's Platinum Partners. Where a lot of companies began downsizing or even had to close their doors, BSB has been blessed to be able to expand internally and throughout Michigan, in 2021.

April 2021

We acquired CBTS's Mitel customer base. Through the acquisition, not only did we obtain new customers, we were fortunate enough to bring five of their key employees to join the BSB Family.

  • Ted Fronrath: Director of Client Services and Support
  • Kandis Pappadakis: Customer Service
  • Chris Hegenauer: Systems Engineer
  • Brian Maynard: Systems Engineer
  • John Kargol: Systems Engineer

July 2021

We brought on another Account Executive, Parker Dennen, who brings a wealth of knowledge based upon 23 years of B2B experience; including selling Mitel solutions the past 10+ years. Parker enjoys meeting new people and helping organizations solve their business problems.

August 2021

BSB acquired Heritage Telecom, a longtime trusted telecommunications provider in Gaylord. Heritage has been providing telephony solutions for Northern Michigan for over 21 years. Combined with our unified communications and data expertise, we will provide our clients with continued support and solutions for their growing business needs. We also added four members to our BSB Family.

  • Ron Skoglund: Account Executive
  • Susie Skoglund: Project Manager
  • Krystal Donajkowski: Customer Service
  • Dan Morris: Systems Engineer

November 2021

One of the founding members of BSB, Bill Nutting, retired after 37 years. As many of you may remember, Bill and Steve were former technicians when they formed BSB Communications. Bill (pictured right) would handle the Operations and Service and Steve would handle the Sales and Marketing. Strongest together they created one of the largest Telecommunications companies in Michigan.

Today BSB has 7 locations throughout Michigan and Ohio and is one of Mitel's Exclusive top 10 Platinum Partners in the country. One of the biggest reasons for our success is understanding the importance of our customers. So Bill created a daily roundtable with all of our technicians and support staff to discuss any customer issues, highlights and/or challenges anyone had with any particular product or application.

BSB takes pride in having over 40 years of knowledge and expertise among our technicians. That is just one of the many ways of how Bill instilled our core values in each and every one of us. As we take time to reflect on all that has been accomplished over the years, we take pride in Bill leading us to where we are today. Congratulations, Bill, on your retirement and enjoy all of the exciting adventures ahead of you! Thank you for everything you have shared and taught us.

December 2021

Most recently, we added another member to the BSB Family. Please welcome Robyn Lessard as our newest Project Manager. Robyn worked for Waste Management for the past 7 years specializing in Operations.

GTS (Global Telecom Solutions) is one of Michigan's leading communications consulting firms. Who was also recently awarded The Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in the Nation for 2021. Recognized BSB as one of their Top Selling Partners for 2021 and invited us to attend their 1st Annual PAC Event.

To end out the year, we say goodbye to Ron Taylor. After over 30 years, Ron has decided to put down his Buttset and retire. Ron has been with BSB for over 10 years. He has been a Systems Engineer for more than 30 years and an expert on the MiVoice Business and the Legacy Mitel SX series. Ron plans to travel the countryside with his Bride. We wish him all the best, and we thank him for all his hard work and dedication. Ron, you will be missed by all.

Most of all, we want to Thank you, our loyal customers, for playing a pivotal role in our growth. We'll make sure we continue to put your needs first as our company expands and improves.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year from our BSB Family

May God fill your life with love, joy, and peace this Holiday Season and throughout the New Year.
